The main objective of Craps is to bet on the outcome of the roll of two dice. Players make their wagers against the ‘house’ or casino. A round of Craps begins with a come-out roll (this is the first roll of the dice). The result of the come-out roll determines the winners and losers for the round. If, when the dice are thrown, the combination of numbers adds up to 7 or 11, the player wins the game, whereas if it adds up to 2, 3, or 12, the player loses.
The player also has the option to take ‘odds’, which involves raising the stake for a second roll. Players can also bet on one or two ‘points’ at one time. 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 are the point numbers. When the ‘point’ is rolled, the player wins. If the point rolls again before a 7 is scored, the result of the initial point number wins the round. If a 7 is rolled before the point number, the player loses.
